At the event, experts from Brazil and others countries, highlighted the importance of silvopastoral systems for the increased need to produce food efficiently, on one hand, and on the other, the need to reduce greenhouse gases (mainly methane/kg product) during the production process.  These systems also stand out for their high value for biodiversity conservation and increased landscape connectivity. Additionally, they are associated with reduced erosion and sediment basins. To contribute to this action, attorneys of Institute of Environmental Law and Economics (IDEA), partner of WCS at the USAID funded Ka'aguy Retã: Forests and Development Program are implementing training workshops aimed at cattle ranchers, members of the ARP (Rural Association of Paraguay or Asociación Rural del Paraguay). This series of talks is supported by the Commission of Environment and Sustainable Production (Comisión de Medio Ambiente y Producción Sustentable) of the ARP through its President, Eng. Esteban Vasconsellos. The first dissertation focused on "Procedures for obtaining Environmental Licenses and Progress in the Implementation of Environmental Services in Paraguay", common issues for landowners and very important for strengthening the country's environmental policy.
